This policy applies to the GlobalBridge Live Captions browser extension published by GlobalBridge AI (open-source project: github.com/001453/newtranslate).

Summary

The extension is a companion to GlobalBridge AI software running on your computer. Tab audio and captions are processed locally via localhost — not sent to GlobalBridge or third-party cloud servers by default.

Data the extension accesses

• Tab audio — captured only when you click “Start captions”, via Chrome’s tabCapture API, for local speech-to-text.
• Language preferences — stored in Chrome local storage on your device.
• WebSocket to 127.0.0.1:8000 — sends audio chunks to your local GlobalBridge API; receives caption text for on-page overlay.

What we do not collect

• No account registration in the extension.
• No analytics or tracking SDKs in the extension.
• No remote servers operated by GlobalBridge receive your audio or transcripts when Sovereign Mode is enabled on the local app.

Third parties

The extension itself does not call third-party APIs. Your locally installed GlobalBridge stack may use Tether QVAC on-device models. Optional cloud fallback in the desktop app is disabled by default (LOCAL_PROCESSING_ONLY=true). See Sovereign egress checklist.

Permissions

• tabCapture — read audio from the tab you choose for captions.
• host_permissions (localhost:8000) — connect only to the local GlobalBridge API.
• Content script on web pages — display caption overlay; does not read page passwords or form data.

Data retention

Captions exist in browser memory during an active session. Meeting exports are handled by the local desktop app, not uploaded by the extension.

Children

Not directed at children under 13.
